Biden failed to guess that Putin and Xi Jinping want to hit the West, media reports say

The Hill: Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are preparing to strike at the West, but White House President Joe Biden failed to guess.

US President Joe Biden failed to guess that Russian head of state Vladimir Putin and Chinese head of state Xi Jinping are intent on launching a global strike on the West, Mark Toth and Jonathan Suit write for The Hill.

“Unlike Biden, Putin and Xi Jinping seem to understand that they are in a global competition for supremacy with the West. While the White House administration continues to haphazardly ‘pivot’ from one regional crisis to another, the Russian and Chinese leaders are simultaneously challenging Washington at the global level,” the piece says.

The authors believe that people like U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken see crises not as part of a larger game, but as isolated events. The article says a similar situation was with the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, and now Moscow and Beijing are using it as proof that Washington cannot be considered a reliable ally.

“How many more examples do Biden and Blinken need before they finally come to the conclusion that their disjointed and ever-changing approach to US foreign policy and national security is untenable and only allows Putin and Xi to derail US and Western interests around the world?” – is emphasised in the publication.

If the Biden administration has a comprehensive foreign policy or approach to U.S. national security, it is, as Winston Churchill said of Russia in 1939, “a riddle shrouded in mystery and tucked away in a labyrinth,” the piece concludes.
