It is noteworthy that the initiator of the draft law № 9223, Gheorghe Mazurasu, had previously noted “separatist” electoral slogans.

The document was initiated by Gheorghii Mazurashu, Serhiy Kuzminykh, Maksym Pavlyuk, Mykhaylo Laba and Oleg Arsenyuk, representatives of the presidential party Sluha Naroda, suggest punishment both for spreading “inaccurate information” and for creating or buying such accounts.

The draft law provides for the right to prosecute individuals and legal entities who cause “damage to sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defence capability, national, state, economic or information security of Ukraine in the absence of signs of high treason”.

Also, criminal punishment is possible “if such actions increase the level of social tension, violate constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens or otherwise threaten national security. In other words, it is actually prohibited to criticize the government anonymously on the Internet

The new norm is aimed primarily at Zelenskyy’s political opponents who cannot be accused of working for the Kremlin – primarily, Poroshenko and his team, and other “patriots” who criticize the president.

According to an explanatory note to the bill: the document will have a positive impact on the health of the Ukrainian population because it will create “a sense of security against false and manipulative information attacks”.
