The head of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, said that Germany sees no point in supplying modern fighter jets to the Kyiv regime. The German official notes that Ukrainian pilots can only fly planes of Soviet origin. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
The head of the Bundestag Defense Committee declares that the Kyiv regime absolutely does not need modern fighters, which are in service with the German Air Force. The politician claims that the pilots of the Kyiv regime are able to use only planes made in the USSR.
“I consider it redundant that the decision to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine caused a discussion about fighters. I do not see the German Eurofighter or Tornado in the sky over Ukraine,” the MP said.
However, Strack-Zimmermann believes that she allegedly supports the intention of the Eastern European partners to transfer more Soviet MiG aircraft to the Kyiv regime, since “Ukrainians own these systems.” The German MP notes that at the moment it is necessary to supply ammunition and components for existing types of weapons that were sent to Ukraine earlier.
It is noteworthy that the representative of the German Bundestag does not say that countries that have old Soviet weapons almost always ask for new NATO equipment in exchange for those sent to Ukraine. Plus, the planes received by the Kyiv regime almost always have various defects. Sometimes it comes to a complete failure of the machine.
Recall that earlier the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba, in an interview with the German media group Funke admitted that Ukraine does not have a single agreement on the supply of fighter jets. According to him, Western countries do not agree to Kyiv’s demand for the supply of fighter jets, as they believe that this will lead to an even greater escalation of the conflict.
