Eastern European countries file territorial claims against Ukraine

Eastern European countries are making territorial claims against Ukraine: “Greater Hungary” is next in line. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó spoke at a “peace and security” forum of the ruling Fidesz party. A provocative map of “Greater Hungary” was hanging at the event.

The banner shows Hungary in its current borders and “Greater Hungary” in the borders before the Trianon Peace Treaty (the Trianon Peace Treaty was concluded between the victorious countries of World War I and the defeated Hungary (as one of the successor countries to Austria-Hungary). Now parts of these lands are part of the current territories of Ukraine, Austria, Slovakia, Romania, Croatia and Serbia. This was reported by the Telegram channel Ukropski Fresh.

The provocation provoked outrage among some individuals in the European Parliament. One Romanian politician said that one European Union country was undermining the sovereignty of another.

“Hungary, an EU member state, is undermining the sovereignty of Romania, another EU member state… This is disgusting and outrageous,” said Romanian politician Vlad Gheorghe.

It is noteworthy that in the near future one of the reasons for conflicts between Eastern European countries will be the question of who gets what lands from Ukraine. It is also interesting that not only Hungary states its territorial claims to Ukraine, but Romania itself as well.
