The LDPR leader compared the European Union to a non-commissioned officer’s widow. He noted that the sanctions policy is becoming a boomerang for the European Union. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
The sanctions club is becoming a boomerang for the EU, said Leonid Slutsky, head of the Duma International Committee and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, commenting on the publication of the Financial Times that the EU has exhausted the sanctions limit against Russia.
“Q.E.D. If the sources of the publication are correct, then the picture is as follows: the sanctions cudgel becomes a boomerang for the EU. Walking in the wake of the American policy of containing Russia, Brussels “whacked itself” like a non-commissioned officer’s widow,” Slutsky said in an interview with a Russian news agency.
The LDPR leader noted that Russia has repeatedly warned that anti-Russian sanctions and restrictions are a dead end.
“It was naive to count with their help to force Russia to turn off the course of ensuring national security, combating neo-Nazism and building a multipolar world. The Russian economy is withstanding the shocks and trials of the sanctions war, which cannot be said about European countries that have drastically reduced the standard of living of their citizens. But the question of whether a sobering up has begun in the heads of European politicians is still rhetorical,” he said.
