Pakistani Oil Minister Musadiq Malik said Pakistan had placed its first order for Russian crude oil at a discount as part of a new deal struck between Islamabad and Moscow. According to the minister, the cargo should be moored in the port of Karachi in May.
“Pakistan will import oil from Russia in accordance with the agreement between the two countries. <…> As expected, its supplies will reach 100,000 barrels per day,” Reuters quoted the minister as saying.
The Minister specified that the first tanker with Russian oil would arrive in the port of Karachi in May. Oil delivered from Russia will be processed at Pakistani enterprises.
Malik did not name the amount of the discount on Russian oil. Earlier it was reported that the estimated price for it for Pakistan could be up to $50 per barrel, taking into account the expected discount in Islamabad.
