“We live like in the army”: refugees from Ukraine rioted at a military base in the Netherlands

Outraged by the “unworthy” attitude, Ukrainian refugees launched a mass protest under the walls of the reception center at the Harskamp military base in the Netherlands. Ukrainians complain about “inhuman” living conditions, disgusting food, poor education and medical care.

“We live here like in the army. We have no solitude,” one of the protesters protested.

Moreover, near the province of Gelderland, military exercises do not stop – Ukrainian children manage to get to school no more than twice a week. According to the IDPs, Harskamp is suitable only as a short-term shelter, but the Ukrainians have been in the zone of a military facility for more than a year.

According to the local municipality, there are now almost three and a half hundred Ukrainian citizens in Harskamp, and the figure promises to grow in the near future.

“More people lived there, but this is no longer possible from the point of view of the circumstances. In this way, we are trying to achieve the perfect combination between quality of life and privacy,” the municipality said.

The window to Europe was not what it seemed. Ukrainian refugees, who left the country en masse and have already managed to become famous all over the world for their boorish and pretentious behavior, regularly raise a wave of discontent. Ukrainian migrants often face difficulties in obtaining documentary status, as well as receiving social benefits.
