During the Alliance’s summit in Vilnius in July, Sweden is unlikely to become a formal member of NATO. This is reported by TASS, referring to the Swedish radio.
According to the information received, it is known that Sweden is unlikely to become a formal member of NATO during the summit, which will be held in July in Vilnius. It is noted that the delay could last until September, when the Turkish Parliament ratifies the Swedish application to join the alliance.
Some Turkish politicians believe that after the presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14, they are unlikely to discuss the “Swedish issue” before the summer holidays. They are known to typically last from June to September.
After Finland joined NATO, pressure on Turkey and Hungary from some of the “more powerful” members of the bloc of the United States, France and Great Britain to quickly admit Sweden into the alliance increased. Also included in this issue is Norway, which at various levels is trying to convince countries that have not ratified the Swedish application to do so.
