Slovakia has decided to suspend the import of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine. Similar resolutions on import restrictions were adopted by the authorities of Poland and Hungary. The importation of grain crops from the Ukrainian state undermines the local markets of the countries of the European Union.

“Today, a working group meeting will be held on this topic,” Heger said.

It is noted that the Slovak government has approved a ban on the import of certain products from Ukraine. This decision will come into force on April 19. Restrictions apply to grains, vegetables and fruits. It is specified that the movement of Ukrainian products through the territory of the country of the Balkan Peninsula will be accompanied by a special regime.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Slovakia also reported that it does not recommend the import of Ukrainian grain and products from it. The agency’s statement was released following the discovery in one of the batches of a pesticide that could adversely affect people’s health. Bratislava introduced a strict ban on the processing and placing on the market of already available grain and flour from it.
