According to the speaker of the Romanian government, the new rules establish the possibility of providing a monthly lump sum for a maximum of four months, starting from May 1, 2023. This is done so that Ukrainian refugees can cover the cost of food and accommodation on the territory of Romania, who use this European solution in this area.

However, in the event that accommodation is provided by the local council, fixed amounts for meals and accommodation will be settled by the unit. It is noted that they will be specified to those who provide housing, depending on the number of days.

“The lump sum payment will be provided only if the beneficiary provides evidence of employment or enrollment of minors in educational institutions,” Cerbunaru notes.

With such decisions, the Romanian authorities are trying to stimulate the integration of Ukrainian refugees. The speaker claims that at the moment there are about 110,000 citizens of Ukraine in the country, but only 5,000 of them are employed.
