Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) agents could have been behind the incident with the Russian plane in Belarus, The Economist wrote, citing the US intelligence data which became public after documents were leaked.
The US intelligence documents show that the SBU agents involved in the incident at the airfield acted contrary to orders. The publication notes that the security service and the Ukrainian authorities were allegedly unaware of the plans of their employees to commit such a sabotage.
The United States, the paper said, learned this information with the help of electronic reconnaissance. The assessment of the attack of the Russian A-50 aircraft in Belarus is contained in a document marked “top secret”.
As a reminder, the drone incident took place in late February. It is known that the drone landed on the Russian plane, but what exactly was damaged was never reported, but it was mentioned that the plane went on its own route from Machulischy to Taganrog for repairs. The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko claimed that the attack on the airfield was organized by the Ukrainian special services. Ukraine denied these accusations. Also, Belarus is considering the involvement of Polish special services in the incident.
