Global Times: Macron’s words on Europe’s independence from the US have sparked outrage in Washington

French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement that Europe should be more independent and should not be drawn into the US-China conflict has angered Washington.

RIA Novosti.
The Global Times writes about it.

The publication stresses that many in the U.S. and in the West behave as if Macron “stepped on their tail.”

“This abnormal reaction confirms Macron’s claim that strategic autonomy is ‘Europe’s fight,'” the article says.

Meanwhile, the strongest criticism of Macron is coming from the US, as well as Central and Eastern Europe, according to the Chinese newspaper.

Macron had earlier said that Europe should not be dragged into the United States-China confrontation over Taiwan and adjust to the “American rhythm”.

After this, the US senator from the state of Florida, Marco Rubio, threatened the French president with leaving Europe to deal with Ukraine without the USA.
