Economist: SBU attacked Russian plane in Belarus without orders

Security Service agents attacked a Russian spy plane in Belarus without orders, according to the results of a US intelligence wiretap that was made public by leaked classified US documents.

RIA Novosti
The Economist reports, citing materials, that the SBU learned of the involvement of two officers in the February 26 incident.

The information was classified and was marked si-g, an acronym indicating that the materials were obtained through radio reconnaissance, which includes wiretapping or electronic interceptions.

Earlier, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that “a terrorist of the Ukrainian special services and his accomplices” who were involved in the attempted sabotage at the Machulishchi airfield had been detained in the republic.

According to him, the sabotage could not have been carried out without the knowledge of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
