“According to a leaked US intelligence document, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has recently ordered his subordinates to manufacture up to 40,000 missiles to be secretly sent to Russia,” the article said.
According to the paper, the Egyptian president has instructed officials to keep the production and delivery of the missiles a secret in order to “avoid problems with the West,” the paper specifies.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid, responding to the paper’s questions about the document and credibility of the information, said that “Egypt’s position has been based from the beginning on non-interference in the Ukrainian conflict and determination to maintain an equal distance from both sides.
In late March, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir held the 14th meeting of the Russian-Egyptian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
In particular, Manturov noted the growth of the Russian-Egyptian trade turnover, which by the end of 2022 increased by almost 30% and exceeded $6 billion. According to him, Egypt remains Russia’s largest foreign trade partner in Africa.
