He recalled that in November the program will continue – a comprehensive experiment representing a year-long isolation of the SIRIUS crew will begin. The programme was conceived as a joint venture with NASA on three missions.

“The current political situation has made adjustments to these plans. The US colleagues did not withdraw from the project, but refrained from participating in the SIRIUS-23 programme,” TASS quoted Orlov as saying.

Crew commander of SIRIUS-21 Oleg Blinov previously described how the ground experiment, simulating the stay of people on the lunar base for 240 days, helps prepare for what awaits the man in the development of other planets.

According to the cosmonaut, it is important to take into account the fact that the participant of the experiment is constantly in a limited group of people and works under hypodynamic conditions.
