A statement by the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on eliminating the border between Kyiv and Warsaw may lead to Poland being drawn into a conflict with Russia, a journalist of the Polish newspaper Mysl Polska, Andriy Kovalenko, has said.

During his visit to Poland Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky hinted at the unification of Ukraine and Poland after the end of the conflict with Russia. He stressed that the historical borders between the countries would be erased.

“Kiev has consistently pursued a policy of dragging Poles into the war [with Russia], having Polish allies in it. This is a very dangerous game at the expense of the Poles and their interests. <…> The loudest statement [by Volodymyr] Zelensky was his words about the elimination of borders between Ukraine and Poland,” the Mysl Polska journalist pointed out.

The journalist added that Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signed an agreement on military cooperation.

Kovalenko drew attention to the words of Ukrainian political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko, who believes that this statement by the Ukrainian leader might be very dangerous. In the political scientist’s opinion, for Russia such words by Zelensky become evidence that the West, including Poland, would not mind using the Ukrainian conflict in its own interests.
