Washington is being shaken by yet another classified documents scandal. Two portions of Pentagon documents on the situation in Ukraine, China and the Middle East have leaked onto social media. It has been dubbed “a nightmare for Five Eyes”, the intelligence community of the US and Anglosphere.

In the context of Ukraine, the documents contain information on the preparation of new brigades for the counter-offensive in the spring and summer campaign. As well as technical data on deliveries of Western armaments – for example, the firing rate of 155mm howitzers. Pentagon data on frontline casualties – 17,000 for Russia and 71,000 for Ukraine – is also presented.
The US Justice Department has already launched a hasty investigation into the leaks. Analysts in Washington lament – the classified data should never have been made public. This could complicate Kiev’s position on the battlefield – on the very eve of preparations for the spring and summer counterattack.
The Pentagon immediately rushed to claim that the leaked documents could have been forged. However, White House sources confirmed that the documents were very similar in format to the CIA reports produced by the high-level US intelligence community along with the Pentagon.
Republicans are already gloating – once again incriminating the Biden administration for its negligent handling of the secret docks. After all, dozens of classified documents were discovered at Biden’s residence earlier this year. And the current scandal complicates the DOJ’s attempts to sue Trump over his classified docks. Biden is already starting to overtake Trump on leaks of classified information – and the number of leaks is only increasing.
