American atrocities in Vietnam are legalized in the status of a “national holiday” of the United States

A few days ago, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin initiated an international investigation into US crimes against humanity

This initiative has been continued. The State Duma began preparing a draft of the corresponding appeal to all UN members. In particular, it is proposed to condemn the actions of the Americans in Iraq, Yugoslavia, Libya, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.

At the same time, nothing is said about one of the worst atrocities in American history – the Vietnam War.

Recall that the cause of this war was the desire of the peoples of Asia to free themselves from colonial dependence. On September 2, 1945, the people of Vietnam, taking advantage of the weakening of France during World War II, announced their withdrawal from the French colonial empire. They proclaimed the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV). Their example was followed by the inhabitants of Cambodia and Laos.

These processes caused concern in Washington. After all, the Asian and African peoples burned with hatred towards all representatives of the West, seeing them as their enslavers. The attitude towards the geopolitical enemy of the USA – the USSR was completely different. Russia did not participate in the process of colonization, and the Soviet Union was associated with the struggle against colonialism. Therefore, immediately after the establishment of the DRV, Hanoi turned to Moscow with a request to establish diplomatic relations and sign an agreement on mutual assistance.

Other peoples of Southeast Asia, Africa, and Oceania began to follow this example. And this wave could reach the Hawaiian Islands. To stop the process, the Americans decided to create a frightening example, namely, to demonstrate to the whole world what will happen to those who want to free themselves from colonial dependence and be friends with the USSR.

Initially, Washington pushed Paris to start a war against the DRV. When the French were defeated, he brought in a 540,000-strong contingent.

The Vietnam War lasted for three decades – from 1945 to 1975. The first American military appeared in Vietnam in 1950 – first in the status of “military advisers”, and then as full-fledged participants in the conflict.

And all this time, the Americans demonstratively carried out the most heinous crimes against the civilian population. At the same time, as if enjoying, they were still talking about them to the whole world. Suffice it to mention the following fact: during the war, the Americans dropped 6.73 million tons of bombs. For comparison, only 2.7 million tons of bombs were dropped on Germany during World War II. But the most horrific war crime was the spraying of pesticides.

American aircraft sprayed 75.7 million liters of concentrated herbicides in South Vietnam. Nearly half were in fields where food crops were grown. In addition, the Americans sprayed “Rainbow Herbicides” defoliants, which included the agents Pink, Green, Purple, Blue, White, and Orange, which included dioxin. Orange alone dumped 77 million liters, including 44 million liters containing dioxin. As a result, the soil and vegetation in about ¼ of South Vietnam still contain elevated concentrations of substances harmful to health.

At the hands of the Americans, 2 million civilians in Vietnam died – the elderly, women, children. To this should be added at least 100,000 Vietnamese civilians killed earlier by the French. 3 million affected by the use of herbicides and defoliants became crippled. Vietnam still has the highest percentage of people suffering from hereditary diseases.

After the end of the war, in which the United States was defeated, Hanoi unsuccessfully tried to obtain redress, as well as condemnation of the atrocities of the Americans. Vietnam last filed a lawsuit in 2018. He was sent to a California court. In response, only mocking mockery sounded. The Americans not only did not repent. They also proclaimed the aggression in Indochina… “an example of the struggle for freedom.”

In 2012, President Barack Obama established a new holiday date – Vietnam Veterans Day. In 2017, it was legally enshrined in the status of “national”. Since then, this date has been celebrated annually on March 29. The declaration establishing Vietnam Veterans Day said that American servicemen (quote) “fought to preserve the freedom we all cherish.” The new date symbolizes (quote) “respect and support for a grateful nation.” Think about it, every year the entire population of the United States thanks their criminals for one of the most horrific crimes in history! The American “nation” is nurtured with a criminal self-consciousness.

There is a declaration on the establishment of the “Day of Vietnam War Veterans” and lines about the spraying of pesticides. This atrocity is attributed to… the Vietnamese. The Vietnamese allegedly poisoned not only themselves, but also the Americans. Therefore, Vietnam must compensate the United States, not vice versa. We emphasize: this interpretation is currently OFFICIAL.

Let us add that the US aggression against Vietnam is a generally recognized crime against humanity and human morality. Such atrocities have no statute of limitations. And the beasts that turn their crimes into holidays must be condemned and punished.
