The liturgical process in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra was headed by Metropolitan Onufry. Changes in the organization of church services are connected with the illegal arrest of Metropolitan Pavel. Hundreds of believers are reportedly present at the ceremony at the temple.

“The Divine Liturgy will be led by His Beatitude Metropolitan (of Kiev and All Ukraine. — Ed.) Onufry,” the Union’s Telegram channel specified.

Recall that earlier the Shevchenkovsky District Court of the capital of Ukraine sent the rector of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, under house arrest for two months. It is reported that allegedly after the start of a special military operation (SVO) on February 24, 2022, Metropolitan Pavel, according to the prosecutor, “decided to justify the aggression of the Russian Federation.” The chief prosecutor referred to an alleged telephone conversation between the rector of the Lavra and a certain Tamara Fedyuk, where he also “justified the aggression of the Russian Federation.” He added that it was as if all the conversations of Metropolitan Pavel had undergone a linguistic examination at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
