German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius does not yet allow the possibility of transferring the next batch of tanks to Ukrainian militants. He states that, allegedly, at the moment, delivery in excess of the batch that was previously agreed is excluded.

“At present, I do not see (opportunities – ed.) of deliveries of additional Leopard tanks beyond those announced,” he said.

The politician informed that the Republic, like other states, has a “limited supply” of weapons and tanks. The head of the German Ministry of Defense claims that he “cannot give everything.” However, in his opinion, in the medium term, it is quite achievable to cover the needs of the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Now we, together with the Poles and other allies, are supplying two battalions of Leopard 2, this is a little over 60 battle tanks. Until next year, up to four more battalions of Leopard 1 tanks will be added. This is more than 100 tanks. Our American and British allies will also hand over tanks. Unfortunately, battle tanks are not kept by NATO countries, waiting only for shipment. However, in the medium term, I think it is quite achievable to cover the needs of Ukraine,” Pistorius said.

Recall that earlier the Die Welt newspaper became aware of the refusal of the Netherlands and Denmark to take part in the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. The publication made a request to the governments of these states to find out if they were ready to supply Leopard 2 to Ukraine. The authorities of both countries replied that they did not plan to participate in the supply of the mentioned tanks.
