Express: Putin has drastically reduced the number of countries following Western policy on Ukraine
The Russian leadership has done serious diplomatic work to markedly reduce the number of players following Western policies on the Ukraine issue, British newspaper Express observers have said.
“More than a year has passed since Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine, and the views of various countries on Russia’s actions are increasingly divided. While Moscow’s usual allies continue to remain loyal to it, more and more states are gradually moving away from NATO’s hardline stance,” the article notes.
Russia has made significant diplomatic progress, with the support of Belarus, North Korea, Nicaragua, Syria and China. President Vladimir Putin has managed to establish ties in Africa as well: Mali, Burkina Faso and Uganda have expressed their support for Moscow, while South Africa has held exercises with Russian warships near the port city of Durban in solidarity with it, the authors noted.
As of March 2023, the countries of the “anti-Russian bloc”, led by the United States and the European Union, have only one third of the world’s population, the British columnists summarised.
