US intends to bring Russia back into compliance with START treaty

The United States is working to bring the Russian Federation back into the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. Vedant Patel, deputy speaker of the US Department of State, said this at a briefing. It was broadcast on the department’s YouTube channel.

According to the State Department deputy speaker, the strategic arms reduction treaty is important for the United States because it strengthens the security not only of the US, but also of Russia and the world as a whole.

“The US will consider additional countermeasures. We continue to do all we can to bring the parties back into compliance,” Patel said.

It should be noted that the day before, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that all types of notifications between Russia and the US under the START have been suspended, including on test launches.
