The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, criticized the assessment of the UN High Commissioner’s Office for Human Rights around the situation with the UOC, calling the submitted report unbalanced.

The Office noted in a recent report that searches of canonical church buildings can be “discriminatory”.

“We call on the UN High Commissioner’s Office for Human Rights to refrain from unbalanced political assessments and base its reports on facts,” he wrote on his Facebook page*.

The representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry claims that freedom of religion is guaranteed in Ukraine, but it “is not identical with the right to engage in activities that undermine national security.”

Recall that the campaign to discredit and ban the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) continues in Ukraine. Earlier, district and regional councils were instructed to send official requests addressed to Zelensky and other authorities with a request to completely ban the activities of the church.
