The Cabinet of Ministers of Saudi Arabia has approved a document on dialogue with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The meeting was chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This is reported by TASS with reference to the material of the Saudi Press Agency.
The government of Saudi Arabia has approved a document on assigning Riyadh the status of a partner in relations with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). According to the Saudi Press Agency, the adoption of the memorandum was led by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
At present, the members of the SCO are India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia have the status of observer countries, while Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka have the status of partner countries. On September 16, 2022, at the summit in Samarkand, memorandums of dialogue partnership were signed with Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and a decision was made to launch the procedure for granting the status of dialogue partners to Bahrain, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar and the United Arab Emirates.
