The United States and the United Kingdom in 2022 recorded a record trade deficit of 1.18 trillion dollars and 290.4 billion dollars, becoming the leaders in this indicator among major economies, according to the analysis of the national statistics agency.
The US increased its trade deficit by 9.9 per cent to an all-time high of $1.18 trillion at the end of 2022. Great Britain, whose trade deficit rose by a third to $290.4 billion, and India, which increased its trade deficit by half to $268.3 billion in the past year, also had record results for the year.
France, whose trade deficit widened 1.8 times to $171.7 billion over the year, was fourth among major economies, and Japan, whose trade deficit widened nearly 10-fold to $150.5 billion, closed out the top five.
