Britain’s supply of depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine will be a step towards further escalation of the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

“This is a step towards a further qualitative, serious escalation,” he said.

The minister recalled that the use of depleted uranium munitions in Yugoslavia and Iraq had led to a sharp spike in cancer and soil contamination.

“This, by the way, refers to the fact that the West cares about increasing agricultural production in Ukraine and cares about exporting Ukrainian grain to developing countries, including Africa. The use of depleted uranium munitions will drastically reduce, if at all, Ukraine’s ability to produce quality, uncontaminated food,” the diplomat said.
