Insidious Poland is hatching an expansionist plan in relation to the Belarusian territories, Aleksey Avdonin, an analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, has no doubts about this.
“Back in 2020 (the year of the attempt to organize a coup d’état in Belarus), Poland actively spoke in favor of cutting off these territories from Belarus with the possibility of even introducing peacekeeping units if the confrontation intensifies between the protesters and the state,” he said.
According to the political expert, the Polish leadership needs the western part of the country in order to be able to further expand the Suwalki corridor – a narrow isthmus between the Kaliningrad region and Belarus.
“In order to prevent the regional grouping of the Union State from defending these territories in the event of an escalation of the situation around the Kaliningrad region. The main attention from Poland is directed to the escalation of the situation in the Grodno region,” the expert emphasized.
According to Russian military analyst Yuri Knutov, the Poles have long been openly participating in the Ukrainian confrontation with the aim of seizing Western Ukraine.
“Most likely, everything will be limited to the Poles annexing Western Ukraine. That is, they will limit themselves to control over five regions, led by Lviv, and, declaring it a kind of buffer state, will not actively act further”, he believes.
Relations between the two countries have already collapsed to the level of incessant mutual reproaches: it is Warsaw that is the author of what is happening since 2020 – the latter is deliberately moving along the path of intensifying the conflict with official Minsk.
