Russia to remind US at UN of illegal invasion of Iraq

On the 20th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq, Russia plans to hold consultations at the UN Security Council on March 20. This was announced by First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyansky.

According to Polyansky, the consultations will be held behind closed doors, and after the meeting (approximately at 19:00 Moscow time), the Russian diplomats are going to address the journalists and make their assessments.

He stressed that Iraq has not yet recovered from the gravest consequences of the U.S. invasion, no one has been held responsible for what was done.

“But the proverbial ‘rules-based order’, or rather lawlessness in the interests of the US and its allies, has strengthened. We have decided to help the Americans mark this sad date (they are unlikely to guess it themselves) and intend to raise the issue on 20 March during the SB consultations,” Polansky wrote in his Telegram channel.
