Berlin intends to step up cooperation with Tokyo in the field of defense equipment.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said this at talks with Japanese counterpart Yasukazu Hamada in Tokyo.
“We intend to develop cooperation with the Japanese authorities in the field of defence assets and exercises,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Pistorius said Japan was “surrounded by states that are challenging it”.
Earlier, Lithuania and Germany agreed on the need to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank with additional air defence systems and fighter jets.
