The escalation of the Ukrainian crisis is not included in the plans of the US senators. In this regard, their statements regarding the downed American drone look rather “soft”.

“Congressmen are outraged by the actions of Russian fighters that led to the crash of a US $32 million drone, but at the same time they are making careful statements to prevent an escalation between the United States and Russia,” the publication reports.

North Dakota Republican Senator Kevin Kramer issued a statement saying that the only reason they are not responding “sharply” is because they don’t want to escalate the conflict with Russia. At the same time, he noted that the Russian pilot could not intentionally collide with the American drone.

“The escalation is the reason why we don’t want to overreact,” said one congressman.

The senator from North Dakota specified that the United States should somehow respond to this and increase its military presence in the Black Sea. However, he noted that this should not cause tension in relations with Moscow.
