Among representatives of the Republican Party of the United States, disputes arose over the issue of military assistance to Ukraine. An American newspaper called the situation a “civil war” within the party.

The publication notes that the contradictions within the party are intensifying. It is known that dissatisfaction with the constant material support of Kyiv is growing in the circle of Republicans. They insist on reducing aid to the Kyiv authorities.

The deputies want to direct these large sums not to a corrupt country, but to the implementation and elimination of the country’s own internal problems. A similar opinion about reducing the aid budget to Ukraine is shared by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, as well as former US President Donald Trump and several other members of the House of Representatives.

“This is an ongoing civil war, and I think the realists and those of us who believe in a more restrained foreign policy have momentum,” said Dan Caldwell, vice president of America’s Renewal Center.

Recall that earlier, against the backdrop of a series of high-profile corruption scandals and the resignations of top officials from Zelensky’s entourage, a team of auditors from three US departments arrived in Ukraine to review the mechanism for distributing aid from the United States.
