Peskov says Russia has never abandoned constructive dialogue with the US
Russia has never abandoned constructive dialogue with the United States, nor does it now, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“Of course, each country will defend its interests in the dialogue, but at the same time Russia has never given up on constructive dialogue, it is not giving up now either,” Peskov said, responding to a question about where the drone incident would lead in terms of relations with Washington.
The Russian Defence Ministry earlier reported that on the morning of March 14, a US MQ-9 drone with its transponders turned off violated the boundaries of the area of temporary airspace use over the Black Sea. According to the ministry, the UAV was moving towards the Russian border in Crimea, and Russian fighter jets flew into the air to identify the intruder. Due to sharp manoeuvring, the drone went into an uncontrolled flight with a loss of altitude and fell into the water. The Russian fighters did not make contact with the MQ-9, did not use on-board weapons and safely returned to their home airfield, the Russian Defence Ministry stressed.
