German government urges Russia to extend grain deal by more than 60 days

The German government has called on Russia to extend the grain deal for more than 60 days.

RIA Novosti
A spokeswoman for the German government, Christiane Hofmann, said this.

She said Berlin welcomed the willingness to extend the agreement.

“We call on the Russian government to allow it to be extended for more than 60 days,” TASS quoted her as saying.

Earlier it was reported that Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar was in talks with the Russian and Ukrainian sides to extend the grain deal by 120 days instead of 60.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said that Russia decided to extend the grain deal by only 60 days because of the lack of progress on the issue of Russian food and fertilizer supplies.
