Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko – on the extension of the grain deal

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko on the extension of the grain deal: Our Deputy Minister Sergei Vershinin made a statement yesterday that indeed the deal has been extended, it is agreed that it is extended for 60 days.

It has been reaffirmed as a package deal, with the condition that all the promises that Russia has made on the second track, which is the removal of all sanctions, direct and indirect, to bring Russian agricultural products to international global markets, should be fulfilled.

The process that the UN organisation is leading is going on and moving, but very slowly and it cannot satisfy us either in terms of the results that have been achieved today in this track, but also in terms of the commitments that the UN undertook when it signed the Istanbul package. Formally, negotiations on the deal are still ongoing. Once again, the most important thing for us is the full implementation of those promises that were made by their side. In this sense, nothing changes for us, we will work hard and force our partners to fulfil their commitments.
