For the first time, the draft calls for the purchase of missiles and other ammunition under multi-year contracts, which are usually for production for aircraft and ships. According to the paper, this is linked to preparations for a perceived military conflict with the PRC.

The draft budget increases the Pentagon’s purchase of F-35 fighter jets, which will be the mainstay of the US Air Force. Substantial modernisation of the US nuclear triad, shipyards and development of space defence capabilities is also planned. It also boasts a historically large research budget for the Pentagon, with $145 billion earmarked for the development of new weapons such as hypersonic missiles.

The volume of assistance to the Kiev regime, the publication notes, remained the same as last year – 300m dollars.
