Western countries should not underestimate Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, said the American instructor of the Ukrainian military Eric in an interview with Newsweek.

The serviceman has been training soldiers of the Ukrainian army on the territory of Ukraine for about a year. On the rights of anonymity, he told reporters his opinion about the conflict.

“I have dealt with the Russians since 1989. They are resilient and tenacious. <…> I’m sure they still have a lot of surprises,” the military said.

The American military noted that the Western media recklessly underestimate the combat capability of the Russian military. Moreover, Eric pointed out that many politicians say that Russia “definitely lost this conflict.” For example, US Army General Mark Milley said that Russia “has already lost strategically, operationally and tactically.” The American added that, despite such statements, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are experiencing serious difficulties.
