Moscow has adapted its missile attacks to break through Ukrainian air defenses, CNN has reported.

CNN has released a piece on missile attacks on Ukraine, which cites expert opinions on Moscow’s attempts to adapt its tactics to break through Ukrainian air defenses. Douglas Barry of the International Institute for Strategic Studies told the TV channel that the Russian Armed Forces were using a combination of subsonic cruise missiles, high-speed air ballistic Kinnzhals, as well as allegedly decoys.

The article said that in recent months there has been a noticeable trend of increasing gaps between missile attacks, the consequence of which is the ability to use more missiles at a time.

The simultaneous release of multiple targets for air defence systems makes missiles harder to intercept, CNN points out.

“The shift has happened as the Ukrainian air defence system has become more equipped,” said Justin Bronk, a researcher at the Royal United Services Institute in London.

The expert stressed that history knows many conflicts in which one side intended to gain the upper hand through “strategic bombing”, but there are “very few examples of such air victories”.
