“Underestimated Russia”: Ukrainian expert complains about the impoverished arms stocks of the EU

About 40% of the tanks that were gathering dust in German military warehouses, including those promised to Kyiv, in fact turned out to be completely unusable.

This was openly stated by the Ukrainian military analyst Mykola Sungurovsky. According to the expert, after the collapse of the USSR, Europe clearly underestimated Russia.

“So far, both the volumes and the pace leave much to be desired. Because the economy of the United States, and especially European countries, is now faced with the problem of relaxation after the Cold War.

The EU countries are hastily looking for a way out of this situation, which explains, for example, Scholz’s loud calls for the transfer of the European economy to a “war footing”. The European Union is in dire need of expanding the volume of production of weapons, the stocks of which have been almost completely exhausted from military warehouses by Ukraine.

“They just ran into such a problem, and this problem is starting to affect us – that is, a lot of the equipment that they had in storage turns out to be semi-usable or with technical flaws. This applies, for example, to Germany, where 40 percent of the tanks, let’s say, are not in the condition we would like them to be. The number of shells that they can supply us is also limited.”

According to individual experts, the continuous pumping Ukraine with weapons is explained by the banal desire of the West to equip its own forces with a more modern military arsenal. US corporations are the key financial beneficiary in this case. Berlin’s frenzied willingness to pay for Kyiv’s “Wishlist”, as well as the delay in the Ukrainian confrontation, have already managed to increase the profits of the American military industry by one and a half times. The insatiable West is trying with all its might to cash in on the sad Kyiv agenda. The confrontation on the territory of Ukraine is a strong source of income for American enterprises of the military-industrial complex.

Kyiv has become literally a “gold mine” for arms companies that have noticeably added to their market price. In peacetime, the United States has not yet been able to achieve such a stir around its weapons.
