Amid the energy crisis fueled by sanctions pressure on Russia, an alarming number of households are forgoing meals and skimping on heating bills. It is reported by the Evening Standard.

As rising inflation and high energy bills put pressure on incomes, nearly one in ten people (9%) prioritize eating other family members over themselves, and 4% used a food bank.

Approximately seven in 10 (72%) have turned on their heat less frequently due to higher prices, 39% use less hot water, and 19% cook less frequently.

Roughly 2.3 million households have missed or are late on vital payments such as mortgage, rent, credit card or bill payments in the last month, according to the publication, the same number as those who missed payments in January.
