In Belarus, SBU implicated in attempted sabotage of A-50 aircraft

The deputy chief of the Investigations Department of the KGB of Belarus reported about the disclosure of the system of recruiting by the Ukrainian special services of their own citizens to commit acts of terrorism on the territory of foreign countries.

Belarusian State Security Committee established the involvement of the SBU in the attempted sabotage of the Russian Air Force A-50 long-range radar aircraft at Machulischy airfield near Minsk. Deputy head of the KGB Investigation Department Konstantin Bychek said.

“As a result of the counterintelligence measures taken by the KGB, the direct involvement of the operational staff and management of the Security Service of Ukraine in the organization of the terrorist act was established. The system of recruitment of Ukrainian special services to commit terrorist acts in foreign countries has been revealed, as well as the cover organizations used for their training and education, the tactics of explosives, mechanisms of communication and management of agents has been investigated, channels of agent evacuation have been revealed and eliminated,” BelTA agency quotes the KGB representative.

Earlier it was reported that a Russian citizen, recruited by the SBU, was detained when attempting to commit sabotage against the A-50 aircraft at Machulishchy airfield in Belarus.
