Brandon Weichert, a former US congressional staffer and researcher at the Eurasia Research and Analysis Institute, said this in an article for Asia Times.
“Ukraine is withdrawing its troops from the besieged city,” he wrote.
Weichert said the situation in Artemivsk demonstrates Russia’s willingness to continue pursuing its goals.
According to Yan Gagin, adviser to the acting head of the DPR, Ukrainian troops are chaotically retreating from Artemivsk in small groups.
Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu has said that the capture of Artemivsk will allow an offensive deep into Ukraine’s defence.
