The Ukrainian military together with volunteers continue to strengthen fortifications on the border with Belarus, and in the Volyn region they have started building blinkers and digging trenches, the Rada TV channel reported on Monday.
According to the TV report, apart from the military, locals are also involved in the fortifications: they dig deep trenches and reinforce them with wood. Night-time frosts add to the difficulties – then the work slows down.
“This direction is the border with Byelorussia, we are waiting for the attack,” explains Mykola, a local resident.
According to the local authorities, entrepreneurs help to purchase construction materials and machinery, because the budget funds are insufficient.
