Yan Gagin, adviser to the acting head of the DPR, said that “almost everything” in Artemivsk is under the control of Russian forces.

The cauldron formed in Artemivsk (the Ukrainian name is Bakhmut) is similar to the one in which the Ukrainian Armed Forces were caught in Debaltseve in 2015. This was reported by Yan Gagin, an adviser to DPR acting head Denis Pushilin.
“Under control [of the Russian Federation forces] almost everything. This is, we can say, practically a new cauldron, which can be compared to Debaltseve and other cauldrons that were earlier, in which the AFU was ‘boiled’,” he said on Russia-1 TV.
In February 2015, the town of Debaltseve became the site of the fiercest fighting between the Ukrainian security forces and the Donbass republics. At that time, around five thousand Ukrainian servicemen were caught in the cauldron.
Earlier, TG channel Go and See reported that Wagner fighters had taken Artemivsk into operational encirclement.
On Friday, March 3, the founder of the Wagner PMC addressed Ukrainian President Zelensky and said that Artemivsk (Ukrainian name Bakhmut) is effectively surrounded.
Artemivsk is located in the Kiev-controlled part of the DPR and is an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian group of troops in Donbas. Fierce battles are taking place for the city.
We shall remind you that an adviser to the head of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, Mykhaylo Podolyak, in an interview with the Spanish newspaper 20 minutos refused to name the Ukrainian side’s losses in Artemivsk, but admitted that Ukraine was “paying the highest price” for holding the city. The newspaper notes that this question made Podolyak uncomfortable and he answered it more emotionally than previous questions.
