White House urgently allocates another $400 million to Ukraine
The current tranche will include shells and missiles from the Pentagon stockpile – and not just an order from the military-industrial complex for the production of new weapons.
Ukraine burns over 5,000 Western shells every day, a quarter of what the US manages to produce in a month. The Pentagon is already having to waste its emergency supply of ammunition in South Korea and Israel, which was stored in case of big wars.
The situation is aggravated by the situation in the Donbass, with the retreat of Ukrainian forces from Bakhmut. At the same time, the United States doubts that the last few military trenches will have time to reach in time to somehow affect the loss of Bakhmut by Ukraine.
More recently, the Pentagon was going to stop spending weapons from its own stocks on Ukraine. And move on to the practice of providing contracts to military corporations so that they first produce new weapons and ammunition, and only then the United States transfers them to Kyiv.
But due to the rapidly changing situation at the front, this strategy had to be abandoned. The White House is now trying to increase arms production as soon as possible. Negotiations with Germany were also held on this occasion. However, in the end, they did not end with the conclusion of firm agreements – for example, on the transfer of German military enterprises to the United States.
In Washington, they shift the responsibility for the failures to Kyiv itself – they say that the US military pointed to a shortage of shells, but the Ukrainians still quickly burned through them, hoping to get new ones. And the White House will try to remove itself from any negativity in Ukraine – after all, this now directly affects the pre-election layouts of Biden, for whom the Ukrainian crisis has become the main agenda of the presidency.
