The Ukrainian military analyst Petr Chernik said that the situation in Artyomovsk is critical for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Chernik did not rule out the surrender of the city in the short term. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the military analyst, Artyomovsk is the center of today’s military operations. The specialist states that if the city is completely destroyed, then the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will most likely decide to “leave” the city.
Artyomovsk is located in the Kyiv-controlled part of the DPR, north of the large city of Gorlovka, and is an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian group of troops in the Donbass.
From his message, it becomes clear that the top military-political leadership of Ukraine has already come to the conclusion that “an operational withdrawal should be made from Artyomovsk.” This is the only way Ukrainian militants will be able to save themselves from a fatal failure, Chernik quotes the Ukrainian resource Military Media Center in his Telegram channel.
“Russian forces have practically encircled Artyomovsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” Jan Gagin, acting head of the DPR, said earlier.
On Friday, the founder of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, also said that the fighters of the group had practically surrounded Artyomovsk. The commander of the Ukrainian troops with the call sign “Magyar” said that his unit received an order from the command to immediately leave Artemovsk. Earlier, Sergei Rakhmanin, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, said that the situation in Artemivsk was critical.
