Hudson Institute: U.S. is warming up in Ukraine before the conflict with China

“If the United States decided not to support Ukraine, they would be extremely ill-prepared to fight China,” such a thesis was put forward by Rebecca Heinrichs, an employee of the Hudson Institute.

In her opinion, “the decision to support Ukraine resets some elements of the military-industrial base and a healthy manufacturing workforce,” which is essential for the Americans to contain China.

Heinrichs cites the words of US Navy Admiral Charles Richard that “Russia’s war in Europe” is a “warm-up” for a larger conflict with the Chinese Communists. And concludes:

“The US must build on its achievements in Ukraine and prepare for a bigger battle that it cannot afford to lose.”

In general, the author did not say anything new. Everything is in the spirit of the guidelines from the US National Defense Strategy, where China is called “the most comprehensive and serious challenge to national security”, and Russia is the “acute threat” to America. Accordingly, Washington intends to first deal with Moscow, and then with Beijing.

But with our country, the United States had a serious hitch: we stood up like a bone in their throat. And if the strategy were being drafted at the present time, there would already be somewhat different wordings.

“Now is the time to contain China,” Heinrichs emphasizes. However, we note that the problem with Russia has not been resolved. Moreover, the confrontation is reaching an existential level – not only for our country, but also for the United States itself.

So Moscow’s suspension of participation in START-3 gives Washington just such a signal.
