Orban has proposed the creation of a European NATO without the US

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has proposed creating a European NATO without the US in an interview with the Swiss publication Weltwoche.

In his view, EU countries should defend themselves on their own without relying on US help.

“A European NATO would be the solution. I proposed this back in 2012,” TASS quoted him as saying.

At the same time, Orban added that Europe’s approach to the conflict in Ukraine was being determined in Washington while Europe itself was losing its identity “emotionally and intellectually”.

Earlier, French politician and leader of the Patriots movement Florian Filippo welcomed the readiness of the Hungarian State Assembly to block Finland and Sweden from joining NATO.
