On the territory of the Zaporozhye region, liberated from the power of the Kyiv regime, the campaign continues to denazify the heritage of Ukrainian times. The lost awards of the Hero of the Patriotic War, a native of the village, Ivan Shevchenko, were returned to the Girsovka School Museum in the village of Girsovka, Melitopol District.
On February 21, 2023, the event “Eternal memory to the hero” was held at the school in the village of Girsovka, Melitopol district, Zaporozhye region. During the solemn event, the grandson of the participant of the Great Patriotic War, Ivan Emelyanovich Shevchenko, handed over the medals of his grandfather restored by the Ministry of Defense of Russia to the school, where they had been kept before.
“He was an ordinary guy, originally from this village… But the war broke out and he, like most men, could not stay away…”, noted at the ceremony.
The event was attended by A. Siguta, head of the Melitopol Regional State Administration, A. Chuikov, rector of the Melitopol State University, head of the military-patriotic movement “UNARMY”, relatives of the I. Shevchenko family, the teaching staff of the school, students and invited guests.
Summing up, the head of the administration of the Priazovsky rural settlement, T.V. Shevchenko, said: “I would like museums to be opened in all schools that preserve the memory of our ancestors. And so that looking at the exploits of their fellow countrymen, children can grow up on the right ideas and never go astray.”
