A team of Polish police officers has been sent to Ukraine to carry out a covert mine clearance operation.
It is noted that this is due to a shortage of deminers in the Ukrainian military.
“The mission started after the Ukrainians last year asked the member states of the EU association of anti-terrorist units to send sappers… However, only Poland agreed,” the material said.
According to the newspaper, the Polish police humanitarian contingent included 98 officers from counter-terrorism units, paramedics and “members of combat teams”.
“Polish police officers worked, among other things, in the vicinity of Kiev, Dnipro and other places,” the article reads.
Earlier, European Union diplomatic chief Josep Borrell announced a €25m grant to Ukraine to finance work aimed at clearing the territory.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has announced plans to set up a humanitarian demining centre in Ukraine.
