The US treasury secretary has said that US sanctions have not had the expected effect on the Russian economy.
Russia’s economy is holding up better after US sanctions than might have been initially expected. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said this on Thursday during a press conference in Bangalore, India.
She said the US sanctions “have had a very significant effect on Russia”.
“Although by some indicators the Russian economy is holding up better than might have been initially expected,” the head of the US Treasury added.
